The story behind the sound

Uruguayan American artist and producer Gustavo Casenave is a two-time Grammy winner and one of the world’s most in-demand tango pianists, arrangers and composers. Select accolades include the Gold Medal at the Global Awards, the Majestic Excellence Award at the Excellence Piano Awards and The American Prize for Composition, as well as being honoured as an ‘Illustrious Citizen of the City of Montevideo’. His Audio Network album, Fuelle y Cuerda, won the Grammy for Best Tango Album in 2020. Gustavo has performed worldwide and collaborated and recorded with artists as diverse as Yo-Yo Ma, The 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic, Bette Midler, Robert Duvall, Christian McBride, Eddie Gomez, Deepak Chopra, John Patitucci, Paquito D’Rivera, Neil Sedaca and Forever Tango. He is a former Jazz Department Director at the Harbor Conservatory in NYC and has given masterclasses and lectures at The Juilliard School, Oberlin Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, Yale University, Columbia University, University of Florida and New York University. He is a permanent faculty member at the Stowe Tango Music Festival in Vermont.
