The story behind the sound

Vivienne Youel sits at the heart of London’s three-piece indie/electro group Youel. Production talents Thomas Campbell & Poppy Kavanagh comprise the other two-thirds of the band. With a blend of guitar, electronica, and Vivienne’s compelling vocals, Youel had its radio debut on BBC Introducing. Singer-songwriter Vivienne constantly strives to put her own spin on elements from all genres. Vivienne’s influences include Radiohead, Wild Beasts, Glass Animals. Grimes, Lykke Li, Robyn, and Christine and the Queens, but it’s the unique sound of each of these bands that most inspires her. Youel delivers music that’s atmospheric without being overly complicated. Lyrically, Vivienne is not afraid to tackle both complex and emotional subject matter, giving further resonance to her music.
