What does my licence cover?

Your licence allows you to use the music in one project or video and covers all sync and dubbing rights. It doesn't cover performing rights, which are normally the responsibility of the hosting platform (eg YouTube) or broadcaster (eg a TV channel) and can be easily cleared directly with performing rights societies.

Do I have to report the music I use?

If your project is for TV or radio, you'll need to fill in a cue sheet so that the broadcaster can pay royalties to our artists and composers.

I’ve downloaded and paid for the wrong track, what do I do?

Get in touch - we'll need to see your email receipt so that we can send you the correct track.

How does Audio Network’s licensing work?

To keep things simple, we license our music per project or video. Every licence is valid globally and forever, and your project can be used across multiple platforms.

Do I get all of the different versions of the track when I buy a licence online?

All online licences are for a single track for a single project. You only get the specific version that you choose to purchase.

What is a cue sheet?

A cue sheet is an industry standard document that lets everyone know what music has been used in a specific TV show, film, production or video. This is available when viewing your orders online under Account > Orders.

What if I need to license music for more than a single use?

We have a range of single use licences available to buy online. However, if you need to license music more regularly or need to license for a campaign or series, please contact our account management team.

 

Can I try the music before I buy it?

In order to gain download access, you will either need to purchase the track licence on our site, or speak with one of our Licencing Managers to discuss upgrading your login. We offer high quality tracks with no watermarks so that you and your clients can get a real idea of how the finished production will look and sound. Simply speak to your account manager or contact us.

I have a subscription and I've run out of downloads. How do I get more?

Simply speak to your account manager or contact us asking for more.

Where can I get my invoice, licence and the music I have purchased?

This is all available to download from your account section.

 

How do I purchase the music?

Our online purchasing process is designed to be as simple as possible. From your search results, simply click ‘add to cart’ and follow the step-by-step process to input your project name, company and billing details.

Why have I been charged VAT?

We are a VAT registered company and if you are based in the UK we have to charge you VAT at the current rate of 20%. If you are within the EU VAT area and have not provided a valid VAT number (including country code) we have to charge VAT at the rate applicable in your country. If you think you’ve been charged VAT incorrectly please contact the billing team.

I’m not happy with my track, can I get a refund?

We cannot guarantee a refund of online purchases unless there is a technical defect with a file and we are notified within 48 hours of purchase. To request a refund, please contact us and we'd be happy to help. Refunds will be issued to the card used at the time of purchase and will processed within 15 working days.

 

What is YouTube Content ID?

Content ID allows copyright owners to identify YouTube videos that include content that belongs to them. As a YouTube creator, it is important that you understand the permitted usage of music in your videos as this may affect the status of your uploaded content.

What does YouTube monetisation mean?

In short, this is how you can earn money from advertising based on the number of views your video gets.

YouTube has integrated this system into your YouTube account. To access this, simply open your YouTube channel homescreen and select ‘Video Manager’ from the menu. You should then see a submenu with the label ‘Monetization’.

Monetisation requires you to agree to YouTube's terms and conditions for advertising. Once you have agreed to these terms, you can allow ads to run alongside your videos and YouTube will share a portion of the ad revenue generated with you.

What is Google AdSense?

AdSense (or Google AdSense) is an advertising service managed by Google. It is designed for website publishers who want to display targeted text, video or image advertisements on website pages and earn money when site visitors view or click the ads. The video element is integrated into YouTube, which is why you may have heard about it in relation to monetisation. Google explain this in more depth.

Why is there advertising on my video?

Advertising will appear on most videos that use copyrighted music. The revenue paid is shared with our composers so they can continue to create even more music.

To block third-party ads or to monetise your YouTube videos, you will need to buy a Creator + or Professional licence. This will also prevent unwanted ads (such as competitor ads) showing on your videos.

Do I need to buy a licence to use your music on my YouTube videos?

Our Creator licence will cover most personal and non-commercial use. However, if you intend to monetise or make advertising revenue from your videos, you need to purchase a Creator + or Professional licence.

What licence do I need for an advert shown on YouTube?

If you are making a video with the intention of using it as an advert then we have different options to suit all campaign budgets.

Our Professional licence allows you to spend up to 2000 (in local currency, such as £/$/€)of media spend per video/campaign.

Does my Audio Network licence include ad-blocking?

A Creator licence will not remove ads from your videos. If you want to block third party ads or monetise your YouTube videos then you will need to purchase a Creator + or Professional licence.

Why am I seeing a claim notice on my YouTube account?

YouTube’s Content ID system automatically detects copyrighted material and serves a notice when it finds it. If you have the correct licence, you can use our YouTube monetisation code to clear this claim. Once you have entered your code, it can take up to 48 hours for your claim to clear.

For more info on YouTube Content ID see our useful links section. If you have purchased a Creator (previously Home & Student) and you do not intend to monetise your videos then no further action is required.

If you don't want to monetise your video, simply click 'Acknowledge' when YouTube sends you the copyright notice. Your video will then be cleared to stay up.

What is a YouTube monetisation code?

Our YouTube monetisation code is required to clear YouTube copyright claims that occur when you use Audio Network music in your videos but we have developed this code to speed up the process for you.

How do I use my YouTube monetisation code?

Follow these instructions to clear your video using the monetisation code:

  1. In Video Manager, select Copyright Notices.
  2. Underneath your video, click the link that says Includes copyrighted content
  3. Click File a Dispute and then select I have a license or permission from the proper rights holder to use this material.
  4. After confirming you wish to dispute, place your code in the Reason for Dispute box
  5. Your video will be cleared within 48 hours

Where is my YouTube monetisation code?

The code is a four word code and can be found in the following places:

  • Order confirmation page
  • Confirmation email

What rights do I need to clear when using music in film or video?

How can I search for music?

  • We’ve added a multitude of ways to find that perfect track. Click 'Search Music' at the top of the page to get started.
  • You can now use keywords or filters to find what you’re looking for. These will appear as tags above your search .
  • Our drop-down menus cover popular selections, but you can find even more options by clicking the ‘Show All’ button. 
  • To refine your search even further, click on ‘Advanced Filters’ to specify track duration, tempo, BPM, key, metre and by lyric content.
  • If you are looking to identify tracks with explicit lyrics, look for the (E) symbol next to the track name, these tracks can also be filtered out completely in the 'Advanced Filters' dropdown.
  • When you’re listening to a track and want to see more from that artist, composer, or album, just click on the three dots next to the listing.

 

 

How do I download music I’ve purchased?

Once you have purchased a track you can log in to your online account and download it by following these steps:

  • Go to your account page, and click on the ‘orders’ button
  • Click on the view arrow on the right of the order you wish to download
  • Choose either to download tracks individually by clicking on the WAV or MP3 icon, or all together by using the tickboxes

How can I download several files at a time?

To download all or several files at a time, check the boxes on the relevant tracks and then click on ‘download selected files as zip’ at the bottom of the list. There are select all/deselect all MP3 and select all/deselect all WAV buttons at the bottom to help.

WAV files are quite large – typically 30-40mb each – so it’s not ideal to zip more than three or four of these together at a time. Most broadband connections seem to have an undefined download limit, and in our experience attempting to download more than 200mb of data in one go will just result in a blank screen.

Can I only download the music file once?

No. Once you’ve paid for a sound file it stays in your account permanently and you can download as many times as you need.

 

How can I download music from a project?

If you’re a member and have access to projects, you can download music from them in two ways: One by one - by clicking the WAV or MP3 icon Packaged as a zip file - by selecting multiple files and using the file download format action from the drop down box at the bottom of the page.

 

How do I add music to a project?

Before you start, make sure you're logged in. Once you've found a track you like, click the Add to Project icon. You'll be asked whether you want to add the file to a new project or an existing one.

How do I share a project?

When creating a new project you can choose to only include yourself in the 'participants', or share the project with everyone in your company.

If you wish to share the project with specific people, simply click 'Edit Project Info' on the project sound file listing page, then select or deselect users.

You can also edit the project name and description here.

How do I download music from a project?

Once you have created a new project or added your file to an existing one, you are taken to the project file listing page.

You can then download your sound files in one of two ways:

  • One by one - by clicking the icons
  • Packaged as a zip file - by selecting multiple files and using the file download format action from the drop down box at the bottom of the page
